Hendrix
Rapidly rediscovering love of Hendrix, thanks to long bus rides and Jordan’s extensive old-school music library.
The amazing thing about him ( Hendrix, not Jordan) is the amount of emotion he managed to get across with a guitar. I’m not well-versed enough in these things to say he’s the best there ever was, but I do know he was really, really good at playing the guitar. Listening to his music makes me desperately want to learn how to pick up the guitar, which is really something.Lyrically, he’s no Dylan, but few are, and Hendrix did have his moments. Like Castles Made of Sand or Wind Cries Mary.
Sometimes I really envy people who were alive during his time. Well, people in the appropriate region of the world at least. Less than a lifetime ago people like Hendrix and Dylan and Richard Pryor (comedian) to listen to. Now all we really have are the Rihannas and American Idol contestants and Dane Cook(comedian). Horrible horrible Dane Cook. Of course, the internet kinda makes up for it. I may not be able to see Led Zeppelin live, but at least I can download their entire discography in a week and whine about it on my blog.
EDIT: Interestingly, WordPress doesn’t think that blog is a spelling mistake anymore, but ‘WordPress’ still is. Who was it that pointed this out to us again?
