Mock Prelims

I like the idea that we’re having mock prelims. Sort of an extra chance for the higher-ups to disown us and burn our documents if we fail miserably.

Interestingly, the closer it gets to exams, the harder it is to study, especially for these June/July Papers. We’ve managed to run through everything at least once, but when we try to do a ‘quick review’, we’re confronted our sheer lack of familiarity with any of the content. Plus World Lit and IOC. Not to mention EE and CAS. This is ridiculous. A levels examinations, and their IB variants really are the worst papers in life.

On occasion I feel compelled to post something on the internet. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say, its just that I’ve taken to hoarding amusing things and fairly obvious observations for sinister purpose. Alas, I am a forgetful man, I can barely remember my introduction when I reach the second paragraph, and I’m lucky to be able to remember the subject by the time I reach the conclusion. And besides that, I am a forgetful man.

Anyway—

The Pain – When Will it End?

——-

I’ve always wondered what compels people to do what they do. It is a great source of the laffs, and in recent times, also the lulz.

Ooh déjà vu.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana. Am reading Cerebus: High Society  in between World Lit 1 and World Lit 2 and really liking the Groucho Marx thing. Not enough to make me cough up money for a purchase. Waiting for the color edition. (ho,ho,ho.)

Midyears are rushing at us like a rhino on crack in a Ferrari filled with chinese fire crackers and napalm.

This is a Bit Late

Pirates of the Carribean is a perfect example of how a movie can be staggeringly bad but still manages to ‘make it’ simply because of one character. In Pirates, Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow is that character.

In all known Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger is that character. Arnie is not a good actor. He is, in fact, a terrible actor. Puppets are more convincing. Hell, dead people are more expressive.

Interesting, but irrelevant.

Oh dear me, it seems I still have my CAS file with me. This is not good.

Holiday Update 1 – In which the procrastination begins

World Literature Assignments are great headaches. I think this is because our minds are drained of their creatively juices after the mass CAS, EE  and TOK rush. I can’t really think of a good topic, or a good way to approach that topic. There again, I’ve never really come up with a good approach.

Desperate for a distraction I have turned back to PC gaming, something I swore never to do again. This time, its Starcraft, and I’m getting pretty good at it. Well, by pretty good, I mean, better than I was at Warcraft 3. I tend to perform better at things that are needlessly complicated and fast-paced, since it allows me to work solely my instinct. Which reminds me…by playing a large amount of Microsoft Hearts, I’ve found that I make most of my decisions instinctively and based on the reactions of others. I find myself in a very bad position when my opponents are  all computers who respond automatically. I’ve taken the Queen of Spades at least 5 times so far. Annoying

There are many interesting things on the internets, and I trust  reddit to provide me with what I need. Like the idiotic logo for the 2012 London Olympics. Check it out.

Our Last Free June

This is starting to become a tradition, I think. The start of the holidays are always the same. First week is burned up on meaning nonsense, and I come on here and complain about not having any time to mug or anything.

Fortunately, the holidays give me a lot of time to think, and to update more. This is funny, since nothing happens to me during the holidays. But I can always muse. And perhaps, I will postulate, if I feel so inclined.

Yesterday we had a .16 gathering, during which we watched Commando. This was interesting. I never knew that someone could actually go out to make a movie like that one. Arnie is quite possibly a genius, a artist years ahead of his time. He also ,quite possibly, suffers from severe nerve damage to the face, because I have seen more expressive toasters.

*******

I have a number of things to look forward to. Like my NS Medical Checkup! WOW! What a fun way to spend six hours. And I just realized that this is my first truly Free June since primary school. It is also my last free june since primary school. Hurrah.
